The image depicts a lively and charming traditional Greek taverna, an informal family-run restaurant. The scene is set in a rustic outdoor dining area with stone walls and a wooden trellis covered in vines, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. In the foreground, a small table is set with white linens, plates, and glasses, ready to serve guests. A young woman with her hair tied up casually stands next to the table, her arms raised as she adjusts her hairstyle. She is dressed in a green top and black pants, exuding a relaxed and carefree vibe. In the background, other diners can be seen seated at tables, enjoying the convivial ambiance. The image captures the essence of Greek hospitality, where good food, laughter, and merrymaking are celebrated in the warmth of a traditional taverna setting.

Gotta get the hair up to sit down and eat. Or is it just me? •• Of the many, many, many things I love about Greece, the traditional Greek taverna (ταβέρνα) has to be near the top. These informal, usually family-run restaurants dot the cities and coasts, serving mostly shareable plates ranging from seafood and meats, fresh salads and vegetables, to bread with ALL the Greek spreads you can think of - a jumble of mostly unpronounceable words to most. •• The casual atmosphere is often accompanied with Greek songs playing in the background and an above average level of noise, merrymaking and laughter. There will be no “indoor voices” used here, a generally foreign concept to Greeks in most circumstances. •• Many are the nights that we’ve ended up not going to the bar at all in favor of staying, drinking, and nibbling in the taverna until way past midnight. . . . . . . #taverna #thisisathens #athens #dining #foodie #athenslife #athensgreece #discovergreece #greekcuisine #greece🇬🇷 #summeringreece🇬🇷
