A misty, fog-filled forest trail winds through towering trees in shades of yellow and green. The dense fog creates an atmospheric, ethereal ambiance, obscuring parts of the background. A person wearing a red jacket is visible in the distance, walking along the winding trail amidst the lush ferns and fallen leaves that line the path. The scene exudes a sense of tranquility and natural beauty, capturing the essence of a peaceful hike in the Portland hills on a foggy day.

Earlier this year I decided to check out these trails on a foggy day and see what I could capture... and now I’ve been coming back over and over whenever there’s fog in the Portland hills since then. The atmosphere is so incredible and it looks and feels as if you have stepped out of the city and onto a back country trail. I know places like these don’t exist near every city, but finding them is a reminder to look around yourself at the places local to you that you might be overlooking. It may take a little extra effort to visit them during a specific type of weather to bring out their beauty, but if you never look... you may be missing something truly amazing in your own backyard. A little food for thought on this rainy Thursday😌🌧🍂
