Idiot hiking gang unite!đĽžđ¤Ş
Last fall while we were in Yosemite and the road to Glacier Point was closed, we made the last minute decision to hike 4-mile trail to go checkout the view anyway. Initially weâd planned to hike all the way to Taft Point, and Iâd made a custom route on AllTrails for the connector trails, but with delays doing that and trying to find parking⌠by the time we made on the trail there was only enough time for us to huff it up to Glacier Point.
We did the roughly 4.5 miles and 3600ft of elevation gain in a pretty decent time and got to enjoy the view all to essentially all to ourselves. I had a feeling that with the way the clouds were positioned that the sun might break through at sunset and just as we were about to pack it in, it absolutely poured through the valley lighting up half domeđ
Sooo, while it may have been a bit idiotic to do the hike last minute, and there may have been some hiccups along the way, like forgetting most of our food (didnât forget the beer thoughđđť), it was totally worth it and Iâd do it again in a heartbeat. I would honestly recommend doing the hike if youâre able even if the road is open, as the views along the way are totally worth it and give a very unique perspective on the valley! Get out there and just go for it!đĽžđ
