What are your favorite hikes near NYC that can be done as a day trip?
🚇
As the owner of a tour company (@nycphototour), I've come to realize that many visitors to NYC have no idea how easy it is to get to the mountains, forest, and beaches! Hop on the Metro-North, LIRR, or New Jersey Transit and you can easily reach numerous hiking trails without a car, some of my favorite of which include:
⛰️
Bull Hill. You can actually see the NYC skyline from the top!
⛰️
Sugarloaf Hill and Osborn Loop Trail. This one offers up-close views of West Point Military Academy across the Hudson River!
⛰️
Breakneck Ridge. I like to combine this scenic hike with South Beacon Mountain to also climb up the Beacon Fire Tower!
⛰️
Seal Haul Out. This one is admittedly pretty far as it's in Montauk at the east end of Long Island, but it's worth the journey as you can see seals!
⛰️
Old Croton Aqueduct Trail. Personally, I like to bike this trail, which has numerous attractions along the way -- like the scenic New Croton Dam!
⛰️
By the way, the photo above is from Bull Hill. You can swipe up in my Instagram Stories for a full guide to this challenging yet scenic hike in Cold Spring, NY! #BeyondTheGuidebook
