Tips for Safe Solo Hiking
How to stay safe when hiking solo š„¾ā¬ļøā
ā
As a solo traveler who loves nature, I often hit the trails alone. Here are some of my top tips to stay safeāplus, check out my recommended hiking gear list via the link in my bio! šā
ā
āØ Have an AllTrails map ready so you donāt get lost, and bring a fully charged power bank to keep your phone charged. ā
ā
āØ Pack a satellite communicator like the Garmin InReach Mini in case you need help and there isn't cell service.ā
ā
āØ Let someone know your plan. Tell them where you'll be hiking and agree on a time to check in afterward.ā
ā
āØ Do your research. Check for potential trail dangersālike wildlife or tricky terraināso you can prepare appropriately (e.g., being bear-aware).ā
ā
āØ Make noise while you hike to let animals know youāre there, and carry a safety whistle for emergencies.ā
ā
āØ Consider trails wisely. Personally, I prefer hiking on relatively well-trafficked trails when solo and typically opt to hire a local guide if doing more remote hikes.ā
