Igniting Curiosity at Home

*Why* do you travel? 🌍 For me, the best part about travel is it opens your eyes to a new way of looking at things. 🔍✨ I realize right now people may be putting trip plans on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak, but realize you can still spark your curiosity and imagination -- as in, get that beautiful feeling of travel -- at home. 💡 A few ideas: 👇 📚Read a thought-provoking book -- or use an app like @blinkist to grab the shortened version while still getting the important takeaways. A few books I've *blinked* recently include "Junkyard Planet" by Adam Minter, "Captivate" by Vanessa van Edwards, and "The War Of Art" by Steven Pressfield <-- Thanks for that recommendation @ouiwegirl! ⛰️Hop on a train/bus and travel somewhere nearby. This past weekend I skipped sleeping in and took a 90-minute train to Cold Spring, NY (adorable!) and hiked Mount Taurus for stunning views over the Hudson Valley out toward NYC. 🧘Take a class or attend a lecture on something you are totally clueless about. I recently attended a transformational breathwork class that was truly, well, transformational. 💃Create a new habit. We all have bad habits or things we wish we could change about ourselves. One of the best ways to do this is to pick a new habit/ritual to replace the old one. So if you've been wanting to make yoga or dance or painting or whatever a priority, use *pen* and permanently place it into your schedule. 🎶Say yes to your curiosity without judgment. Many times we have ideas or desires that we don't act on because we're afraid we won't be good at executing them. For instance, maybe you've always wanted to take singing lessons but you're afraid you won't be a good singer. But really who cares?! Sign up + have fun with it! One of the biggest joys of travel is igniting that curiosity + getting away from the mundane to experience new things and grow as people. 🌿 But in my opinion, we shouldn't be waiting until our next trip to feel this joy. 😊#BeyondTheGuidebook #DontWonderWhatIf ___ * * *
