Geysers of Iceland's Geothermal Landscape
One reason many people visit Iceland: to see the geysers. Known as the Land of Fire & Ice, the landscape is full of geysers glaciers, volcanoes and geothermal activity -- so much that Iceland is able to run on 100% renewable energy (geothermal and hydropower). .
.
Iceland's most famous geyser is aptly named Geysir; however, it's been pretty much dormant since 1916. Luckily, the nearby Strokkur (pictured above) is a sight to behold, spouting every few minutes. It's located within the otherworldly Geysir Hot Spring Area, where walking paths allow you to take in views of the bubbling, steaming ground. Make sure to also check out some of the lesser-explored trails, offering beautiful views away from the crowds! .
