Fushimi Inari-Taisha: Torii Gates of Kyoto

One of the most interesting temples I've ever visited is definitely Fushimi Inari-Taisha in Kyoto, #Japan. The 8th-century temple is like a giant park, with 5,000 Shinto gates (torii) leading you up a 2km path to the top of Mount Inari, located 765 feet above sea level. Such a surreal experience, although in my opinion it would be much better without the crowds. Once you start ascending the mountain, luckily, it thins out a bit.
