Jessie on a Journey
A young woman with long, flowing brown hair is jumping joyfully in the shallow waters of a stunning tropical beach, her arms raised in celebration. She wears a brightly colored, floral-patterned bikini. The crystal clear, turquoise waters stretch out before her, meeting the horizon of the vast blue ocean. The sky overhead is partly cloudy, with dramatic gray storm clouds looming in the distance, providing a moody contrast to the vibrant scene. The white sandy beach is visible beneath the gently lapping waves. This exhilarating moment captures the pure joy and freedom of a beach vacation in an idyllic tropical paradise.

Embracing the Digital Detox

After an almost three-week Instagram hiatus I'm baaaaaackkkk :) ___ Quite honestly, the break wasn't intentional. Once every year at the end of August my boyfriend and I go on a special two-week trip. While I travel every month, I call this particular trip "special" because it's more vacation-like. A bit more splurging, a bit less laptop time and I get to travel with my babe. ___ On this trip in particular -- which was to Panama -- something both crappy and magical happened: My laptop broke! It was Day #2 of the trip, and humidity in Bocas del Toro and my MacBook Pro just didn't play nice together. ___ I'm not going to lie, as an entrepreneur who literally makes a living through what she does on her laptop, I had MAJOR ANXIETY. I mean, two+ weeks without a laptop? How would I live?! Would Jessie on a Journey even survive?! (that's sarcasm, of course, but it is how I sort of felt). ____ Spoiler: My business continued to flourish, and my life not only went on, it thrived. I actually enjoyed my vacation without having to worry about blogging projects and social media. I laid in a hammock and did NOTHING every day. I swam, hiked and paddle-boarded for hours without thinking about how many photos I'd need to edit that night. I just completely lived in a beautiful two-week moment in Panama with my love, and it was the best two weeks of 2018 so far. ___ My advice: Next time your phone/laptop breaks or gives you grief, don't panic. Instead, take it as blessing in disguise; a forced opportunity to take a healthy digital detox (because, let's be real, if it isn't forced us entrepreneurs probably won't take it!). The other benefit is that now that I have my laptop back, I'm excited to work again. ___ Photo taken at Starfish Beach in Bocas del Toro. Bikini from @UniqueVintage (not sponsored). ___ * * *
