A Lesson in Understanding on a Nepali Flight
Something interesting happened on my flight from Kathmandu to Doha. ✈️ I sat down quickly during the boarding process, and shortly after two young men came up the aisle loudly. They were clearly excited and shouting, bumping into people, dropping things. I silently prayed they weren’t sitting next to me. ... They were. 😫
They did all the wrong things in terms of plane etiquette, and I sat there silently stewing.
😡
Until the guy next to me turned me with a smile and said, “I’m really excited but nervous. It’s my first time flying!”
🤭
Instantly I felt guilty for internally hating this guy for being loud and fidgety. I showed him how to use the TV and plug in the headphones, how to use the refreshing towel and how to turn his phone to flight mode. And he scolded the guy in front of me for shaking his chair so much my water spilled. 🙌
It was a reminder to always remember you never know someone’s story, and it’s worth trying to put yourself in others’ shoes.
