Exploring Outside the 303
The image showcases a rugged off-road vehicle, a RAM 2500 pickup truck, parked inside a narrow tunnel carved through solid rock. The tunnel's rough, craggy walls surround the vehicle, with only a small opening at the far end allowing sunlight to filter through. This opening, known as Needles Eye Tunnel, is situated within Custer State Park and is barely wide enough for the truck to fit through, measuring only 8 feet across. The tunnel's name and the vehicle's presence within it suggest a sense of adventure and exploration in the scenic wilderness of the Black Hills region.

Squeezing Through Needles Eye Tunnel in Custer State Park

Lost in the woods 🏞 ⠀ We drove on Needles Highway in Custer State park and barely fit through Needles Eye Tunnel (its 8ft wide 😲). We found a wonderful dinner spot at Center Lake and enjoyed the woods. Here are some tips if you plan to visit Custer: ⠀ 🏞 Research which way to enter if you have a big rig or truck. On the North side there are 2 tunnels that are tight, even for our RAM 2500 ⠀ 🏞 Pack a lunch or dinner to enjoy the park at the many picnic areas and the further into the park the less amount of people ⠀ 🏞 There is camping available, even some for larger rigs ⠀ 🏞 Drive the Wilderness Loop at sunset or sunrise to see the animals ⠀ ❓ Have you been to Custer State Park❓ ⠀ Follow our adventures👉 @exploringoutsidethe303 @ Center Lake
