Hidden Waterfall Gem in Carlsbad Canyon

A well kept secret in the Carlsbad area is Sitting Bull Waterfall. We drove 30 minutes to get there and the drive was beautiful once in the canyon. The waterfall had a viewing deck and a hike to get to the top. We saw a snake, squirrel, road runners, and a tarantula the size of my first. Check out my stories for the video of the tarantula. 〰️ This time of year the water was flowing light with a lot of space to walk around near the base. I could see having limited access during the spring as the water would fill more of the basin. We were the only people there for most of our time. 〰️ The hike was short but had a step incline that made both Steve and I sucking a lot of wind 🤣. Addy wanted to hike more but we were not having it (check out Addy's mad face). 〰️ There were many picnic tables with shade which I assume are crowded during other times in the year. We enjoyed finding this hidden gem and it proves to me that taking a chance on things is beneficial and fun.
