A breathtaking panoramic view capturing a majestic waterfall cascading down a lush, verdant landscape. The waterfall, known as Tumpak Sewu or 'one-thousand waterfalls,' forms a stunning semi-circular curtain of showers, creating a mesmerizing scene. In the background, the active volcano Mount Semeru stands tall, its peak emitting a plume of smoke that disperses into the cloudy sky above. The image perfectly captures the juxtaposition of the powerful natural forces at play, with the serene beauty of the waterfall contrasting with the mighty eruption of the volcano. The dense tropical foliage surrounding the waterfall adds to the picturesque and pristine setting.

Tumpak Sewu Waterfall and Mount Semeru Eruption

May 1st, 2023 — Leading up to this day I had a clear cut favorite natural wonder of the world: the Nā Pali Coast. Kauai’s razor-sharp ridges towering over pristine and isolated beaches, waterfalls plummeting into the Pacific Ocean, and home to some of my favorite adventure memories to date. Well all that changed when I laid eyes on Tumpak Sewu. Translating to “one-thousand waterfalls,” this semi-circular curtain of showers is easily the most picturesque waterfall I’ve ever seen! That’s only the half of it… once in the air, any drone reveals Mount Semeru perfectly centered in the background. This active volcano frequently erupted while @travelisasoulhealer and I were in East Java, blowing a massive cloud of smoke hundreds of meters into the air before dispersing into the thin clouds above. It couldn’t have erupted at a more perfect time on our first of 2 sunrises at this magnificent destination. Only a few minutes after the sun created over the horizon… bang, this is what my drone saw. Here is my new all-time favorite photo that I’ve been fortunate enough to take. The journey, the relationships, the adventure, and the view— this waterfall will always hold a special place in my heart! #Godisgreat Happy Aloha Friday my friends 🤙🏼
