Volcanic Crater Lake Views
A morning I’ll be playing back in my head for years to come!
These beautiful views come at a cost to many who work tirelessly to mine the sulfur seen in the second shot (yellow). Carrying heavy loads up the crater rim and down the mountain; all for just a few dollars per day. Tourism has increased their earnings potential a bit by offering guided services and small sulphur carvings as souvenirs. Some truly kind and happy people amidst what westerners would deem unworkable conditions— another bold reminder along my trip to be extra grateful for everything I DO have instead of focusing on what I don’t. Both while traveling and back home. The constant struggle to not take simple things for granted on a daily basis.
