Budget-Friendly Family Travel Tips

How to make family travel more affordable💵🏝✈️ Traveling can be expensive, especially when you’re paying for the ENTIRE family! We are a family of 5 that likes to travel as often as possible. Here are some things that we do to cut down on costs, so we can travel more… (save for future reference) ✨ 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 - you don’t have to go far to enjoy the benefits of travel. Many times we go places that are driving distance or just a short flight. We do, however, plan a couple vacations a year that are further away so we can have a variety of experiences. ✨𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐚 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩 - most of our vacations are 4 days long and over holiday weekends or teacher workdays. This allows us to take our kids to fun places without pulling them out of school. It also makes it easier for Bryce to get the time off work. ✨ 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐩 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 - we take advantage of cheap airlines like Spirit and Frontier. They’re very basic flights but they get us to where we want to go! We also use points from credit cards to earn miles and travel with other airlines like Southwest, Delta, Alaska, and American Airlines. ✨ 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 - on our vacations we pack in so many activities that we hardly spend time in the hotel/vacation home ~ it’s mostly just a place to sleep😴 So, we keep it cheap! Obviously if the vacation is centered around the place we are staying, like a cool resort or beach house, then we will spend more ~ but if we know we’re NOT going to be there very much, then we save the money instead! ✨ 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 - we like to find hotels with a free breakfast buffet and a fridge to store groceries that we buy. Every morning we fill up on a big breakfast, then pack lunch and snacks for later with the groceries we buy. Dinner is our chance to eat out and try new restaurants.
