✈️Paris Travel Tip: When shopping in Paris, take advantage of the VAT (Value-Added Tax) refund on purchases. This allows travelers to get back the tax paid on certain items while visiting a foreign country Here’s how to do it: (Save this for future travels!)
️⃣ Spot the Right Stores: Look for stores with the “Detaxe” sign that offer VAT refunds, typically for purchases over 100 euros.
️⃣ Ask for the Refund Form: When making a purchase, request a tax refund form and show your passport to the retailer.
️⃣ Keep Your Documents: Hang on to the refund form and receipts until your departure from France.
️⃣Visit the Refund Desk: At the airport, find the “Tax-free refund” or “Detaxe” desk before checking your luggage.
️⃣ Present Paperwork and Goods: Show your items, receipts, and forms to the agent. Make sure your items are accessible if needed.
️⃣ Receive Your Refund: Choose to receive your refund as cash or as a credit to your card. Some airports offer kiosk services for direct card reimbursement. That’s what we did and it was very quick and simple!
