Bald Head Island Travel Guide: Car-Free Coastal Retreat
Travel tips for visiting this lovely island! Save for future travels.✨✨✨
.
Bald Head Island is a tiny little Island off the coast of North Carolina. It’s like stepping into another world, time seems to slow down.💙💙 So leave your car behind and take a ferry over to this beautiful destination!🏝
TRAVEL TIPS...
✨The Ferry Ride:
Drive to Deep Point Marina in Southport, park your car and purchase a ticket for the ferry. The ferry arrives every hour on the weekdays and every half hour on the weekends. Be early!😁 Masks are currently required for the 20 min ride.
✨Overnight Getaways:
Put your items in bins rather than suitcases and drop them off at the ferry terminal, then park. Along with your normal packing list, you may want to include food items in one of your bins. There is one grocery store on the island but it is very small and a bit pricey. Book your tram reservation online in advance, so when you get to the island, they will be waiting. The tram is included in your ferry ticket price so just hop on and enjoy the ride to your island home. Most of the vacation rentals include golf carts and bikes. Check before you go, in case you need to rent one or more.
.
✨Day Trips:
Purchase a round trip ferry ticket. You can bring a backpack so it’s a good idea to bring a towel, sunscreen, water and snacks. When you get to the island, rent a golf cart or bike and start exploring!
.
✨To Save Money: 💵
Take a day trip during the summer months and go off season for longer stays. It’s about half the price and still beautiful to visit in the Spring and Fall.
