Challenges of Going Viral on Social Media

Reaching 3.4 million views with my first viral video was SO exciting, but it also brought unexpected challenges. Here are the main ones I faced and how to deal with them: 1. Viral videos attract trolls who thrive on negativity. 2. Don’t take negative comments personally- the commenters don’t know who you really are. 3. Manage comments by deleting or blocking, or have someone else handle them. 4. Enjoy the surge in followers, knowing it will be followed by some unfollows once the video’s popularity slows down. 5. Viral videos can disrupt the Instagram algorithm, affecting the visibility of your other content when your numbers go back to normal. 6. Resist the urge to obsess over numbers - set limits to avoid getting consumed by checking your phone over and over again. ✨Despite the challenges, viral videos can be rewarding and validating for your efforts.
