Know if a trail will have water and bring a filtration system if you can to save weight. 🧤Layers- hiking and camping at elevation is amazing, but it definitely gets colder so have adequate layers, even in the summer months. 🌲- Know the LNT principles such as where it is safe to go to the bathroom, pack in/pack out, where you can camp etc. 🏔️- Altitude- I have not had altitude sickness before but have know others who have and it does not seem fun! Drink plenty of water, have electrolytes, go to lower elevation if you start not feeling well 🔥- Know the fire regulations and bans for each county, make sure when you do have a fire it is dead out (cool to touch) and check again 30 minutes later before going to bed #colorado #explorecolorado #backpacking #silverton #silvertoncolorado #ouray
